Dieng Plateau

Name of Dieng comes from Sanskrit that is " Di" is meaning " high place" or " mount" and " Hyang" from word khayangan with the meaning place of the goddess deities. Hence Dieng means mountain area where the deities and goddess bersemayam.


But, according to other source, name of Dieng comes from words in Javanese " adi" is meaning respects and " aeng" is meaning odd. So Dieng means beautiful place and full of oddity.
